What does it mean to be an artist and a womxn of color?

Asians are kind of invisible in Hollywood and my goal is to become that breakthrough. Not only as a female director–that is really hard to find in Hollywood, but also to be an Asian-American woman on top of that is this intersectional kind of thing that you have to deal with, at least I do, in my art because it’s by default what I want to create. I want to make a voice for people who don’t really see those kind of people in Hollywood. I’ve never seen an Asian American female director and I think it would be super cool if I could be that for a lot of people.

How do you define love?

Everyone says it’s an action and I completely agree with that. I think it’s care for other people. I identify with being a lover of all things and all people. Love is such an important thing to have in this world – I think a lot of people forget that love is the only thing keeping us together.

How do you define art?

Art is life in general and living it. Honestly, the best art comes out of people’s own experiences with how they deal with life and handle situations they are dealt. Art is making sense of what life is.

Who are other artists you admire?

Celine Hebron. She is everything I want to do. She is my age and she’s in LA right now and she’s insanely talented and she’s really into colors and I’m really into bold colors.

Thank you for sharing your vision, your love, and your cool vibes with us.
